The Music man Steve Morse features several innovative touches like the thumbwheel height adjustment on the brass bridge block and a very unusual pickup configuration that offers endless tonal possibilities. The Steve Morse Guitar has a HSSH pickup configuration composed of several custom pickups.

The neck pickup is a DiMarzio DP-205 Morse Signature humbucker that's followed by a DP-108 Vintage single coil and a Custom-wound single coil. Finally, the bridge pickup on the Steve Morse is a DP-200 humbucking Morse Signature. What's more, these are wired to a 2-way toggle, a 3-way toggle pickup selector and a 3-way lever selector - these provide the Music Man Steve Morse guitar with a vast array of tonalities.
